The SMART Clinical Study is currently being conducted at several specialized spine centers throughout the U.S.
The purpose of the study is to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of the Intracept Procedure, a minimally-invasive, one-hour procedure designed to treat chronic low back pain at its source. The Intracept Procedure is investigational and is currently only available through the SMART Clinical Study.

If you qualify and choose to join the SMART Clinical Study, you will be treated by a local spine specialist and will receive all study-related care at no cost. This includes the Intracept Procedure, as well as any examinations or visits required for the study.
Following your procedure, you will be asked to visit your study doctor’s office approximately 5 times over a 12-month period. During these visits you will be asked about your back pain symptoms and overall health, and you will complete several tests and questionnaires to monitor your condition.
